Distance: 3.5 miles
Total Elevation gain/loss: 1300'
Our first treck was New Years Eve day. We left around 8 am for the community of Mt. Baldy Village. Lindsey used the restroom behind the visitor's center and encountered the coldest toilet seat EVER. The trail was a little tricky to find, even though it's marked by a sign, it's very randomly placed, and you have to go through the little town chapel parking lot to see where it really begins.
We befriended "Flicker" the friendly dog, resident of Mt. Baldy Village who seems to follow all the hikers up the hill and back. We say residences along the way up who have platform pullies across the gorge and swinging bridges for access to the road. At the destination Bear Flat, we found a big Yucca tree and some icy patches. Lindsey was sore for the next 2 days.
