There is a new exhibit at the Fowler Museum at UCLA called "Steeped in History: The Art of Tea" on display Aug 16–Nov 29. I really want to go! Possibly Sunday if I'm back from Lompoc, or maybe the next weekend. I'm having my steaming morning cup of Earl Grey right now. Anybody want to go to a museum of tea with me? There is a great podcast on Stuff You Missed in History Class about the "Boston Tea Party" and the "East India Trading Co." that makes me really in the mood to go see this. You can listen to them on iTunes if you search Stuff You Missed In History Class under Podcasts, or listen directly from their website.

One Year
My folks visited us yesterday and we had a lovely dinner on the patio at Dominick's.We topped of the night with three scoops of gelatto on a frozen marble slab. I was showered with beautiful 1st Anniversary paper gifts of handmade & limited edition books. The pretty red heart one is from David and my parents picked up the other two in a thrifty book shop in Montana on their summer vacation. It seems much longer than just one year, in a very comfy way, but it also seems the wedding was just a couple months ago. My grandparents are celebrating their 60th next weekend, and I'm looking forward to celebrating with them.

Animal Collective reads my mind and sings it back to me so poetically....
Is it much to admit I need
A solid soul and the blood I bleed
With a little girl, and by my spouse
I only want a proper house
I don't care for fancy things
Or to take part in a precious race
And children cry for the one who has
A real big heart and a father's grace
I don't mean to seem like I care about material things
like a social status
I just want
four walls and adobe slabs
for my girls
Is it much to admit I need
A solid soul and the blood I bleed
With a little girl, and by my spouse
I only want a proper house
I don't care for fancy things
Or to take part in a precious race
And children cry for the one who has
A real big heart and a father's grace
I don't mean to seem like I care about material things
like a social status
I just want
four walls and adobe slabs
for my girls
