Weekend photos

This weekend was full of activity. I began it with much working on the quilt, shown here, embroidering and embellishing on the tee shirts. It's now practically done, but for the binding, wich I began last night, but abandoned in my exhaustion.
Elwood got a bath and retreated to his little house to unwind. Here, he peeks through his window.

Lastly, the house was filled with visitors, Laurel - Justin - Ari - Maddie - Katie Blevins + Husband + child. We housed, fed and showered 9 people + Elwood this weekend and then fell into a relaxation coma after they departed for the Tar Pits on Sunday afternoon. Ari found a seat on Elwood's post.

We Are All Potential Carriers

My first project cut from a real pattern and sewn up on the little machine! I spent a weekend cutting, swearing, and sewing. Christine kindly lent me some pointers, and I made up what I couldn't figure out. I think it came out pretty good though. It has a pocket inside and I am very proud of the fact that I put in a zipper. Modeled below by the lovely Davida and Senor M. Pudding.

After The Wedding we walked home

OK, it's no romp through the magic forest, but Kristen and i walked approx. 2 miles to the Fine Arts Theater on Wilshire and La Cienega from her apartment on Faifax. So round trip, that's a 4 mile hike in my book. The movie was GREAT, it was a KCRW screening for After The Wedding, my new favorite movie. I was crying, it was very moving. what a beautiful film.

I absolutely LOVE this illustration and it inspires me to resume the hikes and make some drawings while I'm out. I've been at at home doing lots of indoor crafting, and I feel like going out and being in the trees :)

Elwood M. Pudding

Just in case you haven't yet had the pleasure, I thought I'd introduce you to Elwood, who in this photo has fallen asleep in his carrier, his face so heavy it has fallen down into the carpet. Aparently I feed him too much as he's gained one whole pound in the short amount of time that I've had him. Anyway, he is one of the reasons our hikes are not as plentiful, as I like to stay home and cuddle him instead of venturing into the early morning nature on the weekends.

Hoegees Loop

It's been a while as I locked myself out by foregtting my login info, but here I've finally posted our last hike, our longest hike so far at 5.4 miles. Total elevation gain loss: 1300'/1300' - 2 1/2 hours. Described in our trail book as a "rustic Xanadu", we found it enchanting and magical. It used to be a popular campground, but was destroyed in a wildfire in '53. There are still cabins down there though where people spend thier weekends. We were lucky enough to spot a party of pack mules on there way for some weekend camping fun.
